“The university is actively continuing the implementation of the educational component for foreign graduate students, including applicants from the People’s Republic of China . Currently, there are 46 foreigners studying in the postgraduate program of NUBiP of Ukraine, of which 40 applicants from the People’s Republic of China entered in November 2022 and 2 in May 2023. The largest number of foreign Ph.D. degree holders, namely 27 people, are studying under the educational and scientific program “Educational and Pedagogical Sciences”, as well as under the “Information Technologies” ONP, “Food Technologies” ONP, “Management” ONP, “Marketing” ONP , ONP “Pravo” and others.
In light of the expansion of international educational opportunities, an important aspect of the successful implementation of the educational component for graduate students is effective cooperation with the centers that coordinate their studies. More than 70% of foreign post-graduate students at the university are coordinated by the center of international cultural exchanges RICEN . That is why, in recent weeks, working meetings were held with the head of RICEN – Kevin Liu . During these meetings, issues of training organization, informational support for postgraduate students and opportunities for their academic development were analyzed. Also, one of the main topics of discussion was the importance of active communication of foreign graduate students with their academic supervisors, because effective exchange of information and communication are crucial for successful studies and conducting scientific research. It was emphasized the need to organize face-to-face meetings of scientific supervisors with applicants, which would help in creating stable scientific relations and support of scientific development. The head of the center of international cultural exchanges of RICEN proposed several ways to implement this project: either to send the scientific supervisors of NUBiP to Poland and organize a meeting with Chinese graduate students there, or to send Chinese graduate students to Kyiv next year.
Constant communication with each foreign applicant, as well as timely informing them about the current schedule of classes and any changes that may occur during the course of study, is also an urgent task for the postgraduate department . Remote connection of applicants to the electronic platform of Elearn University is the main tool of wide learning opportunities in the event of a language barrier and provides access to educational resources at any time and in any place.
The post-graduate department continues active communication with post-graduate students from China, aimed at ensuring their successful studies and better adaptation in the Ukrainian educational environment. The leading specialist of the department Tymofiy Korniychuk provides postgraduate students with the necessary information, consultations and support at various stages of their studies 24/7. Questionnaires were also jointly developed, which are used to collect feedback from academic supervisors of foreign graduate students and the graduate students themselves from China. This information will help determine the needs of graduate students and improve their educational process.
Today, with the assistance of the National Center for International Activities and the support of the Department of Postgraduate Studies, all foreign post-graduate students in both the first and second year of study continue to study a foreign language in their major (Ukrainian).
First-year graduates who entered the courts in May of this year are studying the disciplines “Philosophy of Science” and “Pedagogy and Management of Higher Education Institutions” . Post-graduate students of the second year of study began classes with the specialty (implementation of the mandatory component and optional subjects). Those foreign post-graduate students who are studying at the National Educational, Pedagogical Sciences National Technical University are studying the disciplines “Valued worldview and sustainable development”, “Cultural approach in agricultural education” and “Modeling of the professional activity of a specialist”; for ONP “Marketing” – “Development of agro-food markets in the conditions of European integration” and “Innovative marketing”; for ONP “Management” – “Methodology of scientific research and intellectual property”, “Microeconomics and macroeconomics 2”, “Making managerial strategic decisions”; for the ONP “Information technologies” – “Formal methods of developing software systems”, “Algorithms and methods of processing large arrays”, “Methods and algorithms of artificial intelligence and their application in information technologies”; under the National Agricultural Research Service “Food Technologies” – “Innovative technologies in the food industry”; for the ONP “Law” – “Modern comparative studies”.
The implementation of the educational component for Chinese graduate students is an important step in the development of international cooperation of NUBiP and contributes to the exchange of knowledge and the cultural expansion of the university environment. The professionalism of the scientific and pedagogical staff of NUBiP combined with the hard work of the teams of the National Center for International Activities and the Department of Postgraduate Studies are important not only in the implementation of the educational component for foreign postgraduate students, but also testify to the university’s desire to continue to provide quality education and to constantly improve this process, to continue integration into the world educational and scientific community.
We are confident that the results of cooperation will contribute to the enrichment of the scientific environment of the university and increase the level of academic interaction between the applicants and the NPP of NUBiP. We wish our foreign graduate students and their supervisors high-quality research results.
