On the morning of May 14, a group of six people, including Dr. Kevin Liu, representative of the Overseas Project Department of The National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” (KPI), Yang Xue, a distinguished professor of Henan Province, and Chang Zheng, executive dean of Henan Institute of Management and Engineering, visited Pingdingshan Polytenchnic College to conduct educational cooperation exchanges and negotiations. Li Shuwei, the president of Pingdingshan Polytenchnic College, attended the meeting, as did the responsible personnel of the Development Planning Office, the Human Resources Department, the Academic Affairs Office, and the International Cooperation Department.
At the meeting, Li Shuwei extended a warm welcome to the visitors, and introduced in detail the college’s situation and talent training effectiveness based on the school’s history, characteristic advantages, and future development. He pointed out that since the establishment of the college 65 years ago, the college has always adhered to the industry’s characteristics, always served for the development of the industry, and shared the destiny with the development of the national coal industry. The history of the development of the college has not only witnessed the vigorous development of my country’s coal industry, but also provided important talent support for the coal industry. He emphasized that in the face of the major reforms and developments of vocational education in the new era, educational institutions should consider the current situation and put international exchanges and cooperation in an important position. This is not only an important action for educational institutions to create high-quality resource output areas, it is also an urgent need for the college to enhance its international competitiveness and achieve the goal of building a first-class vocational college in the country. He said that based on the leading demonstration of enterprise education, the college will use its unique advantages to deepen exchanges and cooperation with The National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” (KPI), build a new platform for international cooperation and exchange, and create a new highland for international talent training.
Dr. Kevin Liu introduced the historical development, professional setting, and joint training of the talents of The National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” (KPI). The two parties conducted in-depth exchanges on the institutions’ “One Belt One Road” production and education integration, elevation of teachers’ academic qualifications, improvement of students’ overseas academic qualifications, and teacher-student exchanges, etc., and reached a broad range of cooperation intentions. Both parties expressed that they would use this as an opportunity to cooperate with each other and push for new heights.
Subsequently, Li Shuwei and Dr. Kevin Liu signed the cooperation framework agreement on behalf of the two parties. The two sides will carry out comprehensive cooperation in the sharing of high-quality resources, the improvement of students’ academic qualifications, academic exchange activities, and the exchange of visits and exchanges between teachers and students.
Before the meeting, Dr. Kevin Liu and his party visited the national coal mine intelligent talent training base, health service talent training base, aviation service talent training base, automobile engineering talent training base and other on-site inspection visits, and spoke highly of the college’s characteristics and base construction.
It is understood that Pingdingshan Polytenchnic College was established in 1956. It is located in the important power-source and heavy industry base of the Central Plains Economic Zone and a famous historical and cultural city-Pingdingshan City. It is a national civilized unit, producing the first batch of national exemplary higher vocational colleges, the national advanced collective for the employment of ordinary college graduates, the national high-quality higher vocational colleges, and the first batch of national pilot institutions for the 1+X certificate system. The college has 850 faculty members, including 203 teachers with associate senior titles and 372 teachers with master’s degrees or above; 1 national-level excellent teaching team and 5 provincial-level excellent teaching teams. The college has won 3 national teaching achievement awards and 14 provincial teaching achievement awards.
