In 1992, with the support of the Ukrainian government, the Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences initiated the transformation of this department into a higher education institution, aimed at reforming agricultural education. Consequently, it was granted the name Ukrainian National Agricultural University. The university celebrated its centennial in 1998.
In 2008, the Ukrainian National Agricultural University was renamed the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine.
